church music

”Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing.” – Psalm 100: 1-2

Church music has always been integral to worship and many of us can remember how the songs and hymns would fill our churches with a certain tone of gratefulness. There’s something about it that has stood the test of time, creating a unique atmosphere where congregants can worship, meditate, and reflect on what it means to give thanks.

The Music Ministry is a very special part of Slatersville Congregational Church, a UCC church in Northern Rhode Island. We are blessed with talented and devoted music directors.

Senior Choir:
The Senior Choir, under the direction of John Staples, is open to all adults and high school students. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00. The choir sings during Sunday service September through mid-June and on Christmas Eve, and present Cantatas at Christmas time and during Holy Week. Choir members offer special music (solos, duets, etc.) during Sunday mornings from September to June, as well as during summer months. New members are welcome!

Hand Bell Choir:
The Handbell Choir, under the direction of Jill Boday, rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm. We have beginners through experienced players and we have a lot of fun! New members are welcome. Handbells perform during services about once a month, sometimes performing with our church choir. We also offer special music for the Christmas and Easter services.
