The month of September is best known for making the transition from summer to autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. It is also a month that offers many opportunities for outreach. Each week during the month, starting next week, our committee will be focusing on a different theme that might be of interest or important to you. Please pay attention to our table in the foyer for relevant information and materials. Highlights of the month will include:

September 12: National Suicide Prevention Month Event: “No One is an Island”. Held at The island,  1600 Victory Highway, North Smithfield, starting at 12 Noon.Tickets are $20 which includes 25 raffle tickets and live music performances all day.

Week of September 13: National Library Card Sign-up Month. As kids head back to school, there is no better time for them to discover the treasures awaiting them in local libraries. See our table for more information.

Week of September 20: September 21 is International Day of Peace, established by a United Nations General Assembly Resolution. This year’s theme is “Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day”. The hope is for a 24-hour period of non-violence and global ceasefire.

Join us on September 20 for an Origami Cranemaking Workshop during Coffee Hour. The paper crane is a world-wide symbol of peace.

Week of September 27: National Self-Care Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of mental, emotional and physical well-being. Learn why self-care matters to each of us as well as simple ways to practice self-care. See our table for more information.
