What an amazing experience to partner with Rise Against Hunger and our new friends from The United Parish of Upton, Massachusetts and Boy Scout Troop 1139 to package 10,152 to send to Kenya! We gathered after church on Sunday, May 18 with the hopes of having 40 volunteers to staff an assembly line for the meal prep. We were overwhelmed when over 70 volunteers showed up to support this event.Slatersville
Congregational Church began this partnership with Rise Against Hunger in 2012. Since that time, we have packaged over 100,000 meals to help those in need. Everyone who participated came away with a sense of community, impact, and the hope for change and doing good in the world.

The bags of rice, soy, dried vegetables, and vitamins that we put together might have looked simple, but they represent a hope for the future to the many children in Kenya who will receive them and where malnutrition has impacted families for generations. Parents send their children to school knowing that they will receive an education as well as a well-balanced and nutritional meal and a brighter future.

We were able to sponsor this event with the help of your Missions contributions and a generous donation from The United Parish of Upton, Massachusetts. As expressed by Reverend Sean, “Bravo folks of SCC and UPC! You’re doing God’s work in the world! So proud to be in a ministry with you all!”
