Outreach and Action Moment – October 2026
by Miaay McNeil
October gives us an opportunity to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Bullying Prevention Month. While these issues can affect people in different ways and settings, both involve patterns of harm, intimidation, control, and abuse that can deeply impact individuals, families, and communities.
At sec we are called to be a community where very person is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. Our Outreach & Action Committee encourages us to speak up, listen without judgment, support those who are hurting, and help create safe environments at home, at school, at work, and in our church.
Take Action This October: Reach out to someone who may be struggling, learn the warning signs of domestic violence and bullying, and identify one way you can help make our church and community safer. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse or bullying, don’t remain silent-seek support from a trusted person or resource.
Together, we can be a community that chooses kindness, safety, and support.
