Unshakable Faith: Endure Trials and Hold on to God’s Promises

by Karen Yetter

Hebrews 10:32-39 – New Revised Standard Version

32 But recall those earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to abuse and persecution, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion for those who were in prison, and you cheerfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you yourselves possessed something better and more lasting. 35 Do not, therefore, abandon that confidence of yours; it brings a great reward. 36 For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. 37 For yet ‘in a very little while, the one who is coming will come and will not delay; 38 but my righteous one will live by faith. My soul takes no pleasure in anyone who shrinks back.’ 39 But we are not among those who shrink back and so are lost, but among those who have faith and so are saved.

This passage from Hebrews is such a powerful reminder to keep going, no matter what you’re facing. Think back to when you first discovered your faith—that moment when things clicked, and you felt the truth deep in your soul. Remember how you faced challenges head-on? Maybe you endured hard times, dealt with unfair treatment, or stood by others who were struggling. Even when things were taken from you, you didn’t let it shake your joy because you knew you had something better—a lasting treasure that no one could steal.

The encouragement here is simple: don’t lose that confidence. You’ve come so far, and God has incredible rewards for those who stay faithful. It’s not easy, but endurance is key. You’re not just waiting around for better days; you’re actively doing God’s will, trusting that everything He’s promised will come to pass. And it will! God’s timing is perfect, and He never forgets His people.

God sees your struggles, and He’s with you in every step. This passage reminds us to hold on to your faith. Don’t let fear or discouragement make you pull back. You’re not someone who gives up. You’re part of a community of faith—a family that presses forward and holds tightly to the hope of salvation. So, keep going! The struggles you face now are temporary, but the reward waiting for you is eternal. You’ve got this, and God’s got you.
