An Open Letter to the Men of SCC
by Gus Otter
Rick and I are lonely. For a while now, it has just been Rick and I in choir. Through passings, medical restrictions and relocations, a number of men have left the choir and they are greatly missed. I am asking that you gentlemen consider our plight. It would really be a benefit for our choir and the church as a whole, to have a few more male voices. Even a partial commitment would be beneficial.
Even if you don’t feel qualified, rest assured that the choir folks are very helpful and supportive. The Lord knows I don’t have the musical acumen that I would like but with the assistance of the other choir members plus Ropi’s great teaching, it’s all good. This Choir and the Church as a whole are non-critical and nonjudgmental. There is not a single choir member that hasn’t made a mistake here and there.
You will find that these folks usually have more than a few laughs at rehearsal – we really are a family within a family. Come give us a try. Remember, the Bible says that we all are
supposed to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord”. Help us make a joyful noise together on Sundays.
Thanks,
Gus
