Missions Moment – June 2024
by Alison Pierce
In support of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Missions Committee voted to donate $500 to the Rhode Island chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Health. NAMI Rhode Island offers an array of education and training programs and services for individuals living with mental illness, family members, schools, providers, and the general public. The programs that are offered draw on the experience of individuals with mental illness, along with family members who have learned to live well with the illness in their family and are eager to help others.
NAMI Rhode Island is active in the community, holding events each year to educate, support, and foster community among individuals and families living with a mental health condition. An annual learning event “Bridging the Gaps” will be held at the Crowne Plaza on May 30th with presentations and discussions for and by people who are passionate about mental health education.
NAMIWalks RI 2024 will take place on Saturday, October 12th at 10:00 AM at the Temple to Music in Roger Williams Park in Providence. To find out more or to register visit http://namirhodeisland.org/
