Bell Choir Notes
On Saturday, April 13, six members of the Handbell Choir traveled down to Westerly to participate in the RI Ringa-Palooza workshop hosted by the Dunn’s Corner Community Church. The workshop was led by Jane Nolan, a superstar in the local Handbell scene. She is the founding director of the Shoreline Ringers, an advanced, touring handbell choir from CT. We learned a lot, and it was fun ringing with people from around RI!
On Saturday, June 1, SCC will be hosting the Merrimack Valley Ringers (MVR) from MA, under the direction of Karen Leonard. Our own Cathy (Cormier) Seiler rings with them!! MVR is an auditioned community handbell choir. They tour around New England every year, showcasing their energetic performances! They will be offering handbell workshops starting at 3pm at the church, followed by a concert at 7pm. ALL ARE WELCOME!! The workshops are for anyone, beginning to advanced, and include “Basic Ringing Skills,” “Learning to Weave” (weaving handbells is not what you might think!), “Mallet & Stopped Techniques,” and “Trouble with Trebles.” Are you intrigued? Want to try handbells? The workshops are only $10 for the day!! Watch social media and your email for registration!
The concert is open to ALL, and is a free-will offering at the door!
